How do I delete my data?
Uninstall the app. All your cycle data, symptoms, and notes are stored only on your phone. When you delete the app, everything is permanently removed. There's no Cara server, no cloud backup, no copy we can recover — that's the point.
If you want to save a copy before uninstalling, use the Export feature (Settings → Data & Export) to create a CSV or PDF backup.
Can I sync my data between devices?
No — and that's by design. Cara keeps your menstrual data on one device where you have full control. We deliberately don't sync to the cloud because cloud databases can be breached, subpoenaed, or accessed by advertisers. Your data stays with you.
If you get a new phone, you'll start fresh with Cara on the new device. You can export your data as a backup before switching.
I lost my phone. Can you recover my data?
No, and that's exactly how we protect your privacy. Cara never sends your data to our servers, so we don't have a copy to recover. This is a trade-off: you get complete privacy and control, but device loss means data loss.
To protect yourself: enable iCloud backup (iOS) or Google Drive backup (Android). These OS-level encrypted backups will preserve Cara's database if you restore your phone.
Is my data really only on my phone?
Yes. Cara makes zero network calls. The app doesn't phone home, doesn't talk to a server, doesn't upload anything. Your cycle data stays on your device, period. You can verify this by checking your phone's network activity in system settings, or with a packet sniffer if you're technically inclined.
How do I turn on biometric lock?
- Open Cara
- Tap Settings (gear icon, bottom right)
- Scroll to Privacy
- Toggle Face ID / Touch ID on
- Authenticate with your face or fingerprint
Once enabled, you'll need to unlock Cara with your biometric every time you open the app. Toggle it off anytime in Settings.
Does Cara work without internet?
Always. Cara never requires internet and never uses it. No WiFi, no cellular — the app works 100% offline. Track your cycle on an airplane, in areas with no signal, or with internet disabled. Your data is always available.
How do I export my data?
- Open Cara
- Tap Settings → Data & Export
- Choose your format:
- CSV — spreadsheet-friendly table of all your entries
- PDF Report — a formatted doctor-ready summary with charts and insights
- Tap Export and choose where to save or share the file
The export happens entirely on your phone. Files stay on your device until you decide to share them.
How do I report a bug?
Email support@cara.digitaldisconnections.com with:
- A clear description of what went wrong
- Screenshots, if applicable
- Your device model and iOS/Android version
- When it happened
Response time: typically 24–48 hours.
